1993 - Private Self-Insurance Groups authorized by Labor Code 3700
1994 - Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) adopts private self-insurance group regulations
2002 - DIR approves first SIG
2004 - Ten additional SIGs approved by DIR
2005 - Many additional SIGs are in the formation stage
